As humanity faces the growing consequences of environmental pressure, safeguarding planetary boundaries has become a strategic imperative. For Eurazeo, they serve as a compass, helping us avoid systemic risks, support our portfolio companies in their environmental transitions, and direct capital where it is most needed.

Accompanying Sustainable Transitions
Eurazeo aligns its activities with respect to planetary boundaries, the safe operating space within which the Earth system must remain to ensure stability and maintain a livable environment for humanity.
Environmental risks, dependencies, and impacts are assessed from the acquisition phase. Depending on their materiality, they are then addressed during the holding period through operational support and dedicated resources.
For certain key issues, we have developed targeted strategies:
- Climate: A core focus of our action for nearly twenty years, we actively support our portfolio companies in their decarbonization efforts and work to reduce emissions from our own operations, in line with the Paris Agreement. In 2020, we became one of the first European private equity players to commit to the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), which led to the validation of ambitious decarbonization targets in early 2022.
- Biodiversity: With growing commitment to this issue in recent years, we have developed a strategy to protect and restore biodiversity, aligned with the principles of the Science Based Targets Network (SBTN). This strategy follows a dual approach: identifying portfolio companies facing significant biodiversity challenges, as well as developing and implementing formal action plans with them by 2030, in line with the Convention on Biological Diversity and the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework.
Recognizing the increasing importance of water resource preservation, we are also intensifying our efforts on this front.
Financing Solutions with a Positive Impact
We invest in companies whose products, services, or technologies offer solutions to prevent, adapt to, or reverse the overstepping of planetary boundaries, in sectors such as green mobility, sustainable agriculture, waste and water treatment, and circular economy models. These investments are made across all our funds, covering every asset class.
We also manage four environmental impact funds, each addressing a specific challenge, and with a profitability profile aligned with the highest standards of its asset class:
- Eurazeo Sustainable Maritime Infrastructure (Private Debt – Asset-Based) to support the decarbonization of the maritime industry
- Eurazeo Transition Infrastructure Fund (Real Assets – Infrastructure) to accelerate the transition to a low-carbon economy
- Eurazeo Smart City Fund II (Private Equity – Venture) to drive the transformation of cities toward more sustainable models
- Eurazeo Planetary Boundaries Fund (Private Equity – Buyout) to scale solutions that contribute to safeguarding planetary boundaries
Launched in 2024, Eurazeo Planetary Boundaries Fund is the latest addition to our range and a pioneering fund grounded in the scientific framework of planetary boundaries. This launch marks a major milestone in Eurazeo’s leadership in impact investing and opens new perspectives for integrating science into finance.
